To see.
I should say that the 1.0. are not at all
likely to substitute Sir T. Collins for Sir W.
Meyer, to meet the wishes of the Soalety for the
Suppression of the Opium Trade.

Dear Sir,

My Council are very much concerned as to the representation of the Advisory Committee to be appointed by the Council of the League of Nations to meet at Paris on the 21st inst.

We are very strongly of opinion that the Representatie should be Sir W.J.Collins, and not Sir William Meyer, are quite conscious of the delicacy of making such a statement, but the oscasion is of so serious a nature that we beg respectfully to be permitted to submit our view. Bir W. Collins, as you know, has made the Opfum question hi
at the various own for many years past, and his service
51r Conferences in 1912 and subsequently, was invaluable. William Meyer, on the other hand, was not present at the 2nd and 3rd Conferences, and we feel that we have reason to object to the attitude he has often taken to the moral aspects of the world problem, especially on the Indian side
!
With all due courtesy, therefore, we beg that Sir WilMay Collins, the doyen of the whole question, may be appointed.
Respectfully and faithfully yours,
(signed) E.J.Dukes.
